FAQs

What makes 787 Coffee different from other NYC coffee shops?

1

787 Coffee operates a true farm-to-cup model, directly sourcing beans from our own Hacienda Iluminada in Puerto Rico, plus premium sources from Colombia and Mexico. Our coffee shops across NYC feature award-winning coffee beans, specialty coffee, honey process beans, and signature home sauce creations like our famous Coquito Latte—all rooted in our "For Humans, By Humans" philosophy.

What is a double shot of espresso at 787 Coffee?

2

Our double shot espresso features 18 grams of premium espresso pulled with precision through our proprietary 5 Barista Steps protocol. Each double shot delivers 150-160mg of caffeine and is crafted from our single-origin coffee, showcasing the true quality of our farm-to-cup coffee sourced from Puerto Rico, Colombia, and Mexico. It's the foundation of all our specialty drinks and Wow Lattes. Strong and freshly roasted coffee.

What is honey process coffee and why does 787 Coffee feature it?

3

Honey process (pulped natural) is a specialty coffee processing method where coffee cherries are partially dried with mucilage intact, creating complex, balanced flavors with natural sweetness. 787 Coffee grows and process premium honey process beans from their own coffee farm in Puerto Rico and partners with local farms in Mexico and Colombia - only hand-picked coffee. This method produces exceptional flavor notes—fruity, chocolatey, and refined—that make our specialty coffee stand out in NYC's competitive coffee scene. It requires more skill to process, which is why it delivers superior taste.

Where does 787 Coffee source its beans from?

4

We source directly from three primary origins:

1. Hacienda Iluminada (Puerto Rico) — Our own farm in Maricao, Puerto Rico, the heartbeat of our business and foundation of our farm-to-cup model.

2. Colombia — Premium regions featuring award-winning honey process lots with complex flavor profiles.

3. Mexico — Select microlots delivering exceptional body and balanced taste.

This direct-trade approach ensures quality control, fair compensation for farmers, and the freshest specialty coffee available in NYC coffee shops.

FAQs

Why is Puerto Rican coffee special at 787 Coffee?

5

Puerto Rican coffee from our Hacienda Iluminada represents our roots and rebuilding story. Our family farm produces some of the island's finest specialty beans, cultivated at high altitudes in Maricao's ideal climate. Puerto Rican coffee is known for balanced acidity, smooth body, and nuanced flavor profiles. By owning and operating our farm directly, we control every step—from seed to your cup at our NYC locations—giving customers unmatched traceability and quality you can't find at typical coffee shops.

What Colombian and Mexican coffee do you offer?

6

We partner with select Colombian producers for premium honey process lots and single-origin beans, known for their complex fruity and chocolate notes that elevate any coffee shop experience. From Mexico, we source specialty-grade coffee from the state of Oaxaca that delivers exceptional body and balanced flavor. Both origins rotate seasonally, ensuring our coffee shops always feature the freshest, highest-quality beans available. Ask our baristas about current single-origin offerings—each has a unique story and tasting profile. We have our own coffee farm in Puerto Rico and as we continue to grow and expand we collaborate with more farms.
