Brewing a Greener World: Recycling with 787 Coffee!

Let’s Connect on Social

In a world that is becoming more conscious of the need for eco-friendly practices, 787 Coffee wants to demonstrate that recycling can turn our coffee breaks into a powerful sustainability movement. Our commitment to planet-friendly packaging isn't just about trendy slogans or greenwashing, it's about redefining the way we enjoy our coffee, from bean to cup and beyond. On today's 787 coffee blog we are going to talk about the different ways you can recycle!

Brewing a Greener World!!

The Essence of Recycling

Recycling is the art of giving life to the stuff we might normally discard. It's about giving a new purpose to the products we use, love, and responsibly dispose of. When we recycle, we're contributing to a world where consumption and waste aren't synonymous, where the things we 'throw-away' begin vibrant, new cycles of use.

We are not just a coffee shop,  we're a community that loves sustainability, enthusiasts who wear their passion for the planet on their (recyclable) sleeves. Our first step toward a greener world was reimagining our packaging, and the second is empowering YOU to continue the cycle by creatively recycling our materials in innovative ways.

When you pick up a cup of 787 coffee, you're not just enjoying its rich flavor; you're participating in a story of transformation. From our coffee bags to our cold brew can inspired cold brews, each vessel holds the potential for a second life, waiting for your creative touch to repurpose it into something extraordinary.

Let’s recycle together! We hope this guide  will teach practical ways to recycle and repurpose our 787 Coffee packaging or used coffee grounds for a better world! Share your own eco-hacks to inspire the community further.

Transform Waste: 787 Coffee in Practice

We believe that recycling doesn't have to be just about bins and routines; it can be an exciting part of life, filled with creativity and innovation. Here are some ideas we created we though for YOU!

From Cup to Planter: The vibrant yellow cups that once brimmed with our coffee can be perfect homes for your plants. Protect their roots and brighten your space with a pop of YELLOW color! Not only are you giving a plant a new home but you are decorating a space that you love to look colorful!

POUCHES! can also be reused as a flower base, just as we did for Valentine’s Day! But they can also be used as a ziplock bag where you can put your vegetables or other food and as a water bottle.

Can Do Attitude: Our mezcal cold brew cans, with their amazing design, are begging for a second act. You can use them to organize your workspace or protect young plants from cutworms. By removing both ends of a can you can place plants inside the can and plant it in the soil as a shield from worms.

Fashion Meets Function: Tired of the same old tote bags? Fashion a chic, unique accessory out of our coffee bags, complete with rugged charm and the allure of sustainable style!

You can also make yourself Jewelry with the can tab, such as earrings or hand bands! Look cool and caffeinated

You can recycle bags and turn them into cool planters! All you need to do is cut the bags to the size and shape you want, add some soil and plants, and READY! You've got yourself a new planter.

Grounds for Goodness: Our coffee grounds can be used for many amazing things such as natural body scrub! coffee is great for your body due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which can help minimize breakouts, reduce redness, and soothe the skin.

Coffee can be a great natural pest control option. The strong, fresh aroma of coffee can be poisonous to certain insects, making them stay away from your small plants

Caffeinate Your Creativity: The possibilities are as endless as the coffee we treasure. Share your uniquely eco-conscious creations with the world and inspire others to raise the bar on their recycling game.

Conclusion

Each human act of recycling may seem small, but just like ripples in the water, they can create waves of change. Recycle your 787 Coffee packaging and be part of the larger current turning the tide on waste.

Remember you can recycle, ALL of our packagings like our cups, our coffee bags, our cans and even coffee grounds!!

From coffee pouch to flower base, can taps into jewelry and cups into flower bases! Get creative

Supremo Roast — Farm-Grown Single Origin Puerto Rican Specialty Coffee
from $40.00

This is the cup that started everything.

The 787 Coffee Supremo Roast is our signature

single-origin specialty coffee — grown at

Hacienda Iluminada, our family-owned farm in

Maricao, Puerto Rico, at 3,000 feet above sea

level in the island's central mountain range.

Handpicked at peak ripeness. Honey processed

on the farm. Roasted fresh in small batches.

Shipped directly to your door.

TASTING NOTES:

Buttery caramel — from the honey processing

method that leaves natural sweetness in every

bean. Dark chocolate — from the high-altitude

growing conditions that slow the cherry's

development and concentrate flavor. Bright

citrus finish — clean, clear, and completely

unforgettable.

THE HONEY PROCESS DIFFERENCE:

Most coffee is washed. Some is natural

processed. 787 Coffee's Supremo Roast is

honey processed — a labor-intensive method

where the outer skin of the cherry is removed

but the sweet mucilage layer is left on the

bean as it sun-dries at Hacienda Iluminada.

The sugars absorb into the bean. The sweetness

becomes part of the coffee itself. You taste

it in every cup.

WHY THIS IS THE BEST COFFEE TO BUY ONLINE:

Single-origin — every bean from Hacienda

Iluminada. One farm. Full traceability.

Freshly roasted to order — never sitting

in a warehouse. Award-winning — same quality

that earned 787 Coffee #3 Best Coffee Shop

in New York City and #32 in North America

by The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026.

Specialty grade Arabica — grown at 3,000ft

elevation for maximum complexity.

ONE BAG. ONE TREE.

Every Supremo Roast bag plants one coffee

tree at Micro Lot 2026 — Hacienda Iluminada,

Maricao, Puerto Rico. The highest mountains

of Puerto Rico. The lungs of the island.

Your purchase today becomes the harvest someone drinks in 2029.
