The Art of the Pour Over Weekend Coffee Ritual
The weekend pour-over is your ritual for slowing down. It’s a quiet moment, a peaceful meditation. While the water simmers, you can close your eyes and breathe deep. As you pour, your mind focuses only on the slow, steady flow, and the rich aroma rising from the grounds while it’s in the blooming process. With our Freshly Roasted NuevaYoL coffee bag, the scent is a sensory escape that will teleport YOU to the soul of Latin America . You’ll breathe in a story told in scent from the high mountains of Maricao, Puerto Rico to walking the vibrant streets of Mexico City, to meeting the warm hospitality of Bogota ,Colombia. This is your ritual, your quiet moment to enjoy what it feels to taste the Best Coffee in the world.
What Makes a Pour-Over So Special?
What makes a pour-over so special is that it opens a window directly into the heart of our specialty coffee beans. This isn't just a morning drip coffee to wake you up; it's an art of flavor clarity. The controlled, gentle pour of water slowly, carefully, pulls out every beautiful note and hidden layer from the coffee grounds, leaving all bitterness behind. This is the secret the pros use, the way they "cup" coffee (flavor tasting) to find every little note of the coffee, like a philharmonic orchestra in your mouth. When you use a pour-over, you're getting the most honest and transparent taste of your NuevaYoL coffee bag, and see why everyone is getting this limited edition latino coffee blend.

Step-by-Step NuevaYoL Pour-Over Recipe
Here’s how to master your brewing skills to make the best coffee at home, using a precise method to really highlight the unique notes of every country of our NuevaYoL coffee bag. This 787 Coffee recipe is what we use at our coffee shops, and will help YOU focus on the details to get a pro barista-quality pour over.
The setup. Heat your water to 203°F-205°F. While it heats, place your decanter on a coffee scale and your dripper on top with a paper filter. Rinse the filter with hot water to remove any papery taste, then discard the water.
Grind and prepare. Grind 15 grams of your NuevaYoL coffee bag to a medium-fine consistency (about the size of table salt). Add the ground coffee to the filter, then lightly tap the sides of the dripper to create a flat, even bed.
The "bloom" pour. Tare your scale to zero. Slowly pour water, starting in the center and working your way out in steady, circular motions, until you reach 50 grams. This first pour should take about 40 seconds. This crucial step, called the "bloom," helps release gases and prepares the coffee for a more even extraction.
The remaining pours. Continue pouring in steady, circular motions, allowing the water to soak the coffee grinds in between each pour.
At 40 seconds: Begin your second pour and continue until you reach 120 grams.
At 1 minute 20 seconds: Begin the third pour and stop once you reach 190 grams.
At 2 minutes: Begin your final pour, stopping when you reach a total of 248 grams.
Finish the brew. Allow the coffee to finish dripping completely. This precise, multi-stage pour allows you to get a perfectly balanced and clean cup. Pour it into your mug and enjoy.
This method will bring forward notes of Dark Chocolate (Puerto Rico), Caramel (Mexico), and Fruity (Colombia) in a clean, balanced finish that showcases the NuevaYoL coffee bag's unique profile.

Level Up Your Weekend Pour-Over: The Temperature-Controlled Kettle
You've mastered the pour. Now, if you want to take your ritual to the next level, there’s one tool that can make all the difference. Think of it as your secret weapon for making the best coffee at home: a temperature-controlled kettle.
Why It Matters: Water temperature is a key ingredient. The difference between a perfect cup and a bitter one is often just a few degrees. The sweet spot for brewing is between 200–205°F (93–96°C). Too-hot water can burn your coffee, while too-cool water won't extract the full flavor. A temperature-controlled kettle takes the guesswork out of the equation. It allows you to set the water to a precise temperature and holds it there consistently.
Even more importantly for the V60 ritual, the kettles long, slender gooseneck spout gives you total control over the flow of water. This is a game-changer, allowing you to pour in those slow, steady circles to perfectly saturate your grounds and get the most out of every NuevaYoL coffee bean.
How to Use It: This tool is simple and puts you in charge of your pour overs from the very start.
Fill it up: Fill the kettle with the exact amount of water you need for your recipe.
Set the Temp: Use the digital display on the base to select your desired brewing temperature. The kettle will heat the water and keep it at that exact temperature.
Pour with Control: Hold the gooseneck spout close to your dripper and pour slowly, maintaining those circular motions you’ve practiced.
Practical Advice: Experiment with temperatures to see how they change the flavor of your freshly roasted NuevaYoL coffee bag. A great starting point is to set the kettle to 205°F for a hotter, more strong extraction. Or, to bring out a more delicate, fruity flavor, try 198°F. These small details makes your weekend brewing feel like a world champion barista, giving you a level of precision that elevates the entire process.

Once you have your basic recipe down, you can explore adding different elements directly to your pour over. These simple additions can dramatically change the flavor of your NuevaYoL coffee bag and unlock new tasting notes.
The Chocolate Pour: Add a teaspoon of cocoa nibs or a small square of dark chocolate to your coffee grounds before you bloom. This will infuse your coffee grounds with rich, decadent chocolate notes, making a chocolate swirl of deliciousness.
The Citrus Kiss: Place a small piece of dried orange or lemon peel at the bottom of your dripper, under the filter. This subtle addition will add a beautiful, bright citrus aroma and a touch of zest to your coffee.
The Berry Boost: Add a few crushed freeze-dried berries (like raspberries or blueberries) to your coffee grounds. This easy trick will give your cup a fruity sweetness and a vibrant, layered flavor.
The Spice Infusion: A classic for a reason! Add a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom directly to your grounds before you pour. This infuses your brew with a subtle warmth and a cozy, new layer of aroma.
The Salted Secret: For a next-level pro tip, add a tiny pinch of sea salt to your grounds. This will enhance the natural sweetness of the coffee and can help reduce any potential bitterness, giving you a remarkably smooth and clean pour over.
The Minty Refresher: Place a single, fresh mint leaf in your carafe before you pour. As the hot coffee drips down, it will gently extract the mint flavor, creating a surprisingly cool and refreshing finish.
The Sweet Finish: After brewing, add a teaspoon of caramel, vanilla, or maple syrup directly to your mug. This allows you to sweeten and flavor your coffee without altering the clean extraction that the pour-over provides.
The Tropical Escape: Add a small amount of toasted coconut flakes to your grounds before you start your pour. The hot water will extract a nutty, tropical essence, giving your NuevaYoL coffee bag a hint of island paradise.
