When we opened our first coffee shop on 7th Street in the East Village of New York City back in 2016, we had a vision of where we were headed, but we could have never imagined just how beautiful this journey would turn out to be.
From the majestic mountains of Maricao, Puerto Rico, to the glowing streetlights of New York City, to the sun-soaked deserts of El Paso, TX, none of it would have happened without YOU our caffeinated community. Now, as we grow into Westfield, NJ (who welcomed us with open arms) and prepare for our grand opening in Houston, TX, we’re reminded every day that there are more caffeinated humans that align with who we are. The doers. The dreamers. And most importantly, the CREATIVE FUCKERS who make life way more interesting.

Our vision? To open 100 coffee shops nationwide and internationally, spreading the love, energy, and culture that our caffeinated community have helped create. How It All Began
It started with our farm. Hacienda Iluminada in Maricao, Puerto Rico. We opened up in 2014 with a land as wild as the forest, but with a vision of bringing back opportunities and jobs to the community of our island. When Hurricane Maria came and divested Puerto Rico, many of our coworkers had only enough to support their families to buy diapers and baby food. 787 coffee was a beacon of hope to be able to lift the spirits of our farmers, and a symbol that we are stronger together, and rebuild through tragedy.
When 787 Coffee opened its first U.S. location in 2016 on 7th Street of New York City, we were just a little shoe box of a coffee shop, but our mission was clear. Bringing the human element to our caffeinated customers. That same authenticity, warmth, and connection that we have as latinos to every customer we served. No matter where you walked in. Whether it was on the street corner in New York or the sun city of El Paso, you were stepping into a little piece of Puerto Rico.
What began as a local favorite on 7th street quickly grew into a movement. Impacting one customer at a time. It became the new “cool office” for many students and workers. A space to be able to focus and get shit done, while having the aroma of freshly pulled espresso in the air. With free fast WiFi, very comfortable seating, and a space that helps you ignite creativity and productivity, word spread and now we keep very special elements like our swings and neon signs as a staple to every 787 coffee shop you visit.
Today, that journey has earned us a place among the top coffee brands in America.
